"Why don't they accept me?" the little girl cries
Up to her mother with furrowed wet eyes.
"I'm different," they tell her, "I don't understand,
"Why don't they take me as I am?"
For twenty-one years, an outcast she's been
Her title and pride all she's had to defend.
Hidden beneath a mask of rage
But easy to read as an open book page.
"Why don't they love me?" he weeps to himself
Confidence left on an old dusty shelf.
"I mess everything up, I can't get it right,"
He chastises himself all alone at night.
For twenty-one years, a failure he's been
Unable to impress; his family's chagrin.
Just under the surface, he dreams of a life
Free of embarrassment, pain, and strife.
How is it then that these two souls
Can meet and turn two halves whole?
A fiery girl and a stuttering boy
Erase past pains to bring present joy.
The world may judge, but they can see
Beauty that lies beyond what others believe.
And though to their peers they appear wrecked
They both know they're already perfect.

So, I've been reading a lot of poetry from my fellow deviant buddies, and it's made me realize: I haven't submitted poetry in SOOO long! It made me sort of melancholy, cuz I remember when I used to pump out poems willy nilly. I guess its not a BAD thing I've become more of a short story writer, but I want to get back into the form of literature that people used to know me for.
Again, Ginny and Lenny were the first characters that came to mind as I searched for inspiration for a poem. Actually, the idea for this poem just sort of struck me last night (when I wrote it), so I didnt even have to sit there and ponder for too long.
I feel so bad for these two. While they have two very different pasts, they're both just as painful. Ginny never fit in in her home town of Arteca. Being a total rough tough tom boy that always had some sort of inner battle brewing, she just didn't make friends easily and was avoided by everyone except Terek (who was really her only friend). In fact, she didn't even start making friends until she joined the Blackwell Strong/Chaosfall.
Lenny, on the other hand, was always the black sheep of his family. Every Dennison before him was a snobbish noble that excelled in at least SOME field. However, Lenny ended up being a day dreamer book worm who's head was always in the clouds. He got his stutter from being corrected so many times for his mistakes and his parents never even seemed to really love him. Being kidnapped by Ginny was the best thing that ever happened to the poor boy.
And so, these two make an amazing duo because Lenny is the supportive friend and innocence that Ginny needs and Ginny is the strong protective older sister figure that Lenny needs. They're adorable as BFF's (or more
) and just freakin rawk!
The title was inspired by a song that I think very much fits them called 'Already Perfect' by Truce
